Giestown Remodel

Seamless Lighting and Electrical Upgrades for Historic Homes

Kinsmen Electric modernized the lighting and electrical systems in a historic Somerset County parsonage, combining safety, functionality, and aesthetic precision. From rewiring outdated knob-and-tube systems to installing seamless ceiling lighting, we transformed this home into a beautifully illuminated, modern space for the pastor and his family.

This project involved the extensive remodel of a historic parsonage near a local church in Giestown. With homes built in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the property had outdated wiring, including knob-and-tube circuits: a safety concern for inspectors and residents alike.

Our team rewired the entire home, focusing in this gallery on the dining room, living room, and kitchen areas. We upgraded lighting systems to modern standards, replacing old lamp-based setups with ceiling and can-less recessed lighting. Multiple entry points into each room required carefully planned switch locations for ease of use and convenience.

A key element of the project was alignment and symmetry. Lights had to be precisely measured and spaced to ensure aesthetic continuity as rooms transitioned, including corners and adjoining spaces. This created a harmonious flow from kitchen to dining room to living areas.

The result is a combination of safety, functionality, and elegance. Every light is aligned, switches are intuitive, and the home now meets modern standards without compromising its historic charm. The project also opened the door to additional work at the church and other associated properties.

The homeowner was highly satisfied with the outcome, highlighting Kinsmen Electric’s attention to detail, craftsmanship, and ability to solve complex electrical challenges in older homes.
